Looking back at the early days and what has grown since.

    Back of the card

Specific appreciation helps your partner see what felt caring, steady, mature, or brave in real life.

  2. What habit of ours do you hope we keep in the next season?

    Back of the card

Keeping what works is also growth. Not every next step has to be about fixing a problem.

  3. What do you appreciate about the way we handle busy seasons together?

Ano yung naa-appreciate mo sa paraan natin kapag busy season?

    Back of the card

Busy seasons can show what already works between you. Noticing those small systems makes them easier to repeat when life gets full again.

Kapag napansin ninyo yung small systems, mas madali silang ulitin kapag puno ulit ang life.

  4. When you share good news with me, what first response helps you feel celebrated?

    Back of the card

  5. When we are both tired, what small help from me would mean a lot?

    Back of the card

  6. When you are doubting yourself, what kind of encouragement from me helps the most?

    Back of the card

Encouragement works best when it fits the moment. Some days need belief, some need listening, and some need quiet company.

  7. When you are stressed, what signs do you wish I noticed sooner?

How to use them

Before you ask

An anniversary is the one night a couple is allowed to be sentimental on purpose. A monthsary is the smaller version, and in the first year it comes around fast. Either way, the date is a good excuse to stop planning the week and talk about the relationship itself: where it started, what has changed, where it is going.

Start with the story of us. Early memories are easy and warm, and they remind you both why you are at this table. Then move to what you have learned about each other, including how you argue and how you make up. End with the next season, the plans, habits and worries you want to carry into the coming year.

These are reflective questions, not a performance review. Listen more than you answer, don’t defend yourself mid-story, and let a hard answer sit for a while. You can always pass a card and come back to it on another night.

Good for

  • Anniversary dinners, at home or out
  • Monthsary dates in the first year
  • Wedding anniversaries and renewal-of-vows weekends
  • Long-distance anniversaries on a video call
  • The drive home after the celebration

Tips

  1. Take turns asking, and let the person asked answer fully before you add your side.
  2. Write down one answer that surprised you. Read it again at next year’s anniversary.
  3. Start with the story of us, even if you’ve told it before. It changes a little every year.
  4. Keep the hard questions for a quiet place, not a loud restaurant.
  5. For a lighter night, see the date night questions instead.

Anniversary and monthsary

Frequently asked questions

What questions should couples ask on their anniversary?

Questions that look back, look at now and look ahead: an early moment that made the relationship feel real, what has gotten better in how you talk, and what you hope to keep in the next season. Answer slowly and let the other person finish.

What do you talk about on a monthsary?

Something smaller than a full anniversary talk: one good memory from the month, one thing your partner did that made you feel chosen, and one plan you are both excited about. A monthsary is a check-in, not a state of the union.

What are good relationship reflection questions?

Questions about how you show love, how you handle tension and how you reconnect after a misunderstanding. They help a couple notice what is already working and name what needs care, without turning it into a fight.

Are these anniversary questions in Tagalog too?

Yes. Every card has an English and a Filipino/Tagalog version. They come from the Couples deck in the Kumustahan app, which has free cards and more in the Couples Edition.
