How to use them
Before you ask
The trouble with most first date questions is that they sound like a job interview. Where you see yourself in five years is not a first date question. Good ones are small and specific: what they order when they’re tired, which plan they’d pick for a free weekend, what kept them busy as a kid. Small answers say a lot.
Use the food questions while you’re ordering, and the quick choices when the conversation dips. Answer every question yourself too, so it feels like a trade. When an answer gets interesting, stay there. Three follow-ups on one good story beat ten new cards.
Leave out exes, salaries, marriage and how many kids. There are no couples cards on this page on purpose: they assume a history you don’t have yet. Keep it light enough that both of you could walk away smiling. If it goes well, the date night questions are waiting for later.
Good for
Tips
- Pick three or four cards you like before the date instead of reading off your phone all night.
- Answer first now and then, so they never feel interrogated.
- Follow the story, not the list.
- If they give a short answer, let it go. Not every card lands.
- Let the silly ones be silly. Laughing together is the point.

Frequently asked questions
What should you ask on a first date?
Easy, specific questions about everyday life: a food they can’t say no to, how they’d spend a free afternoon, a hobby they’d like to go back to, a small plan they’re looking forward to. They are easy to answer and tend to turn into stories.
What should you not ask on a first date?
Skip exes, salary, marriage, kids and anything that sounds like a screening. Those conversations come later, if there is a later.
How do you keep a first date conversation going?
Ask a follow-up about whatever they light up about, and share your own answer too. When it dips, a quick this-or-that question resets the mood without any pressure.
Are these first date questions in Tagalog?
Yes. They are cards from the free Kumustahan app, and every one has an English and a Filipino/Tagalog version.
