How to use them
Before you ask
Youth group discussions often stall because the questions sound like a quiz. Young people know the Sunday school answer and give it. Good small group questions ask about their actual week: a song that stuck, a moment they noticed God, a person whose faith keeps them going.
Open with an icebreaker, especially at camp or on a night with new faces. Laughing about a group photo habit or a barkada joke gets people talking before anything serious. Then move to the light faith questions. Keep the deeper ones for the last night of camp or a small group that has met for weeks.
Leaders answer first and keep it real, not polished. Never put someone on the spot about doubts or struggles. Anyone can pass, and a quiet member who listens is still part of the group. The Lifegroup & Faith deck has more for weekly meetings.
Good for
Tips
- Mix one icebreaker with two or three faith questions. That’s a full night.
- Split groups by five or six so everyone gets a turn.
- Leaders go first and keep the answer honest and short.
- Don’t correct an answer in the moment. Listen first, teach later.
- Keep what’s shared in the group in the group.

Frequently asked questions
What are good youth group questions?
Questions about their real week, not a quiz: a worship song that stayed with them, a moment they noticed God, someone whose faith encourages them. Start with an icebreaker so the room relaxes first.
What are good small group icebreakers for church?
Light questions about habits, food, childhood games or group roles, because everyone can answer them and newcomers don’t need to know church language. One round is enough before the main discussion.
What questions work for the last night of youth camp?
Slower questions about what God might be asking of them, who could pray with them and what they want to remember. Give people time to think and let anyone pass.
Is there a faith deck in Tagalog?
Yes. The Lifegroup & Faith deck in the free Kumustahan app has every question in English and Filipino, made for lifegroups and youth groups.
