How to use them
Before you ask
Family game night questions turn a regular game night into a game about each other. No board, no batteries, no one person who always wins at strategy. The youngest player can beat a parent at guessing what Grandpa always checks before he leaves the house.
The four rounds below give the night a shape. Round 1 is the competitive one: answer secretly, then see who knows you best. Round 2 is quick picks with a short defense. Round 3 slows down for family stories. Round 4 is a fast finish so the night ends loud.
Board games still have a place. Many families play a question round between games while someone resets the pieces, or use Round 1 to decide who goes first.
Good for
Tips
- Let the youngest player be scorekeeper; it keeps them invested.
- Pair little kids with an adult for Round 1 so they can still win.
- In Round 3, the family rule is “add, don’t correct.”
- Play one round between board games instead of all four at once.
- Give the winner a silly prize: picking tomorrow’s dinner.

A simple way to keep score
Points are optional, but kids play harder with them. Keep it simple so nobody spends the night doing math.
- Round 1: the answerer writes their answer down; one point for each person who guesses close enough.
- Round 2: after everyone defends their pick, the table votes for the best argument. One point.
- Round 3: no points. Stories are the prize.
- Round 4: one point for any answer given in under five seconds.
