How to use them

Before you ask

A how well do you know me game is simple: one person secretly answers a question about themselves, the other guesses, and you compare. The questions that work best have a specific answer someone close could know: the food they can’t say no to, the first thing they do when they get home, the destination they’d use a free ticket on.

It is a favorite for couples and best friends because it is half quiz, half compliment. Getting an answer right shows you’ve been paying attention. Getting one wrong usually ends in a story you hadn’t heard yet, which is the better outcome.

The rounds get harder as you go: food is easy, habits need observation, opinions need listening, dreams need real conversations. If one of you is losing badly by the last round, that’s a good list of things to ask about on your next date.

Good for

  • Couples on a date night in
  • Best friend challenges for TikTok or Reels
  • Anniversaries
  • Bridal showers (the couple guesses each other)
  • Roommates and siblings

Tips

  1. Write answers down first so nobody changes theirs after the guess.
  2. Allow “close enough” points. Strict scoring kills the fun.
  3. Ask the story behind every wrong guess; that’s where you learn something.
  4. Play both ways. It’s not fair if only one of you is tested.
  5. Replay months later and see if your score improves.

How to play

You need two people, these questions, and something to write on (paper or your notes app).

  • Answer: the person being asked writes their real answer down without showing it.
  • Guess: the other person says their guess out loud.
  • Reveal: one point for an exact match, half a point for close. Arguing over “close” is encouraged.
  • Swap: switch roles every question, or play a whole round each.
  • Bonus: after a wrong guess, the answerer tells the story behind the real answer.
