How to use them

Before you ask

Self-love questions ask you to treat yourself the way you treat people you love. That sounds simple, and almost nobody does it. Most of us would never say to a friend what we say to ourselves after a mistake. The first group of questions is about noticing that voice.

From there, the page moves from inside to outside: letting go of a mistake you keep replaying, naming something you like about yourself without a joke attached, and then something practical, like one small kindness for today or a kind of rest you’re allowed to enjoy. Self-love that never reaches your evening isn’t much use.

Answer these alone, on paper or out loud, or with one trusted person. They’re gentle, but they can stir things up. If something heavier surfaces, talk to someone you trust or a professional; these questions are for reflection, not a replacement for support.

Good for

  • A slow morning alone
  • After a rough day or a hard week
  • Journaling and therapy homework
  • A friend who is being hard on themselves
  • Groups that already trust each other

Tips

  1. Answer the friend question first: what would you tell them?
  2. Write the kind answer down, even if you don’t believe it yet.
  3. Say what you like about yourself without a joke.
  4. Pick one small care from the last group and do it today.
  5. Go easy. One honest answer is plenty for one sitting.

Self-love questions

Frequently asked questions

What are good self-love questions to ask yourself?

Questions about how you talk to yourself when you fall short, what you’d say to a friend feeling the same, what you like about yourself now, and one small kindness you can give yourself today.

How can questions help with self-love?

They slow down the automatic voice in your head and ask it to answer differently. Writing a kinder answer, even once, makes the next one easier.

Are these questions a substitute for therapy?

No. They’re for everyday reflection. If they bring up something heavy, reach out to someone you trust or a mental health professional.
