How to use them
Before you ask
Sweet sixteen questions need to pass a tough test: fun enough for a room of teenagers, and safe enough that nobody wants to disappear when a parent is in earshot. Walk-in songs, photo poses and dream trips pass easily, and they get even the shy friends answering.
The best-friend round is where the party comes alive. Ask where a shareable inside joke began, the playful side that comes out around close friends, what friends should ask permission to do. Teens love answering questions about their friendships, especially in front of those friends.
Save the last questions for the birthday person, just before the cake. A hope for the next season and something they’re nervous about but still want to try make a better birthday wish than anything blown out silently.
Good for
Tips
- Let the birthday teen choose which questions make the cut. It’s their party.
- Play the walk-in song question and actually play the songs.
- Keep parents out of the best-friend round, at least from the front row.
- Skip dating and crush questions in a mixed crowd; not everyone wants that spotlight.

Frequently asked questions
What are good questions to ask at a sweet sixteen?
Fun party ones like a walk-in song or a group photo pose, best-friend questions about inside jokes and texting habits, and a birthday-wish question for the guest of honor before the cake.
What are fun sweet sixteen games without spending much?
A question game: everyone sits in a circle and answers a card, with a vote on the best answer. Add a walk-in song round and a best-friend trivia round about the birthday teen.
Are these questions okay for 15 and 16 year olds?
Yes. They avoid dating, drinking and anything embarrassing, so they work with parents in the room and in mixed groups of friends.
