How to use them
Before you ask
An evening reflection is a few honest questions at the end of the day: how you’re coming down from it, what went okay, and what can wait until tomorrow. Done in five minutes, it turns a blur of a day into one you actually lived.
It works in three steps. First, settle: notice what helps you unwind and the tiny routine you do when you get home. Then look back for small good things, which are easy to miss on a busy day: a moment that felt okay, an unexpected laugh, a kindness. Finally, put tomorrow down. Name what can wait, and one small thing you’re looking forward to.
Do it alone with a notebook, with a partner over the dishes, or with kids at bedtime. It isn’t a plan for tomorrow; the point is not to fix the day but to finish it. For a longer weekly version, try questions to ask yourself.

- Put the phone away for those five minutes.

Frequently asked questions
What are good evening reflection questions?
Questions that help you finish the day: what helps you settle after a full day, one small part of today that felt okay, what made you laugh, and what can wait until tomorrow.
How do I start an evening reflection habit?
Pick a fixed moment, like right after brushing your teeth, and ask yourself two or three questions. Short and nightly works better than long and occasional.
Can couples or families do an evening reflection together?
Yes. Taking turns on one or two questions over dinner, the dishes or bedtime is an easy ritual, and kids often look forward to it.
