How to use them
Before you ask
A good question for a Filipina girlfriend is one she hasn’t been asked by every guy who found out she’s Filipino. Skip the quiz about lumpia and karaoke. Ask about the role she plays at family gatherings, the house rule she only recently realized was strange, or the meal that was memorable for reasons that had nothing to do with the food.
Many Filipinas grow up as the reliable one: the ate (older sister) who helps raise the younger cousins, the daughter who handles things. The couples questions in the last group are a way to ask how she likes to be taken care of for a change.
The cards come with Tagalog on every question. If her family speaks it, try one at the next gathering. It tells them you are making an effort.

Tips
- Don’t lead with the stereotypes. Ask about her, not about “Filipino girls.”
- Ask what her family nickname is and where it came from. Most Filipinos have one.
- If she’s the eldest daughter, ask what she wishes someone took off her plate.
- Answer the couples questions too. They work best as a trade.

What should I ask my Filipina girlfriend?
Ask about her family table, the roles she plays at home, the habits that are very her, and what makes her feel paid attention to. Specific questions show more interest than general ones about Filipino culture.
