How to use them
Before you ask
Married couples talk all day: about pickups, groceries, bills and whose turn it is. What slips is talking about how it all feels. Questions for married couples work when they meet you where you live, in the kitchen, the calendar and the tired hour after the kids are asleep, instead of asking you to sit down for a heart-to-heart you don’t have energy for.
Ask one or two over dinner or while you fold laundry together. Start around the house; teasing each other about chores is easier than discussing fairness, and it often gets you there anyway. The questions about busy weeks are for exactly those weeks. The ones about teamwork and fairness are better on a calm weekend, when nobody is keeping score.
Most of these are from the Couples deck, mixed with a few from Getting to know and Reflect. They work just as well for long-term partners who aren’t married. Every card also has a Tagalog version, and the Couples Edition adds more for when you want them. Pass any card that lands on a bad day.
Good for
Tips
- Ask one question a night instead of saving twenty for a special occasion.
- Do it while doing something together, like dishes or a walk.
- Thank each other for one specific thing before you talk about what to change.
- Keep the fairness questions for calm weekends, never mid-argument.
- Agree on one small change, not five.

Frequently asked questions
What are good questions for married couples?
Questions about ordinary married life: which routine you would miss, which chore feels lighter as a team, what helps when you are both tired, and what you appreciate about how you handle busy seasons together.
How do you start a conversation with your spouse?
Start small and specific, at a time you’re already together, like dinner or a walk. A question about something good that happened this week opens up more than “how are we doing?”
What should married couples talk about?
Beyond schedules: what each of you needs on a tired day, how the household load feels, a small promise you keep well, and what you hope the next season looks like.
Can we use these questions on a phone?
Yes. They are cards from the free Kumustahan app. Pick the Couples deck, choose Keep it light or Open up, and take turns reading.
