How to use them
Before you ask
Good morning questions are small and gentle (the drink that makes the day feel special, the part of today you’re looking forward to, one kind thing you can do for yourself), because nobody wants a deep talk before coffee.
Most families and couples spend mornings in logistics: who has the keys, where the shoes are, what time is pickup. That’s fine, but a single question can change the tone of the day. Asking what someone is looking forward to, or what can wait until tomorrow, takes thirty seconds and sends people out with a little more lightness.
Use one card at breakfast or in the car on the way to school or work. Answer it yourself too. For journaling, the last group works as a one-line morning prompt.
Good for
Tips
- One question per morning. Don’t make it a meeting.
- Ask before phones come out, while the coffee is brewing.
- Let sleepy people answer with one word.
- On a hard day, skip planning and use one from the last group.
- Write your answer on a sticky note and put it where you’ll see it later.
