4 questions

Learn it early and you’ll get it right later.

Piliin ang unang limang minuto: kumustahan, tawanan, o wala munang usapan.

  3. Which simple hangout with a friend would you happily repeat?

Anong simpleng bonding kasama ang friend ang gusto mong ulitin?

When it starts to feel easy

3 questions

For the hangout that runs longer than planned.

  1. Recall a moment when talking to a new friend started to feel easy.

    Back of the card

Remember the first thing you no longer felt shy about saying.

  2. Tell us about a friend who made you feel like you belonged.

    Back of the card

Inclusion can happen through one seat saved, one question asked, or one person making room on purpose.

  3. Plan a hangout that a friend could bring a new friend to.

    Back of the card

Imagine the newcomer knows none of your old jokes. Your activity can still work.

How to use them

Before you ask

A new friendship moves forward on questions a little more personal than small talk and nowhere near a heart-to-heart. You’ve met, you got along, maybe you swapped numbers. Now comes the awkward stretch where you like each other but don’t yet know what to talk about.

Ask about things you could do together: a place nearby to explore, something to watch, an activity they’d love to introduce you to. Those answers become your next plan. Then ask who they were before you met. A childhood game or a song from an old era tells you more than a job title, and people enjoy explaining it.

The third group is the most useful and the one people skip. How someone wants to hear from you after a tiring day, what helps them feel included, which small favor they’d ask a friend for: knowing that early saves a lot of misread messages.

Good for

  • Second and third hangouts
  • Coffee with someone from a class or event
  • Walks and errands together
  • New friends in a new city
  • Texting between hangouts

Tips

  1. Turn answers into plans. If they mention a place, suggest going.
  2. Share at the same depth they do; don’t jump ahead.
  3. Ask one thing about their past each time you meet, not ten at once.
  4. Remember how they like to be contacted, and use it.
