How to use them
Before you ask
The best baby shower questions skip the guessing games and get guests telling stories: what got them excited as a kid, a small childhood memory they still see clearly, the household habit they assumed everyone had. It’s a gentle reminder that the baby is about to start collecting memories of their own.
Showers are full of advice, much of it unasked for. The advice questions here aim it somewhere useful: what helps people rest, the routine that gets them through an off day, the kind of help they’d actually accept from a friend. New parents remember those answers in month two.
Close with the village round. Ask each guest which small job they actually enjoy helping with. “Let me know if you need anything” becomes “I’ll bring dinner on Tuesdays”, which is the most useful gift at the shower.

Tips
- Collect the village answers on cards and give them to the parents as IOUs.
- Let the parents-to-be answer the hope questions last, after the guests.
- Skip questions about birth plans, weight or names unless the parents bring them up.
- At a co-ed shower, mix partners into different tables for the story round.
- Keep it short. Pregnant guests of honor get tired.
