How to use them
Before you ask
A couples bucket list starts with good questions: where you would go first with a free round-trip ticket, which language you’d want to wake up fluent in, what you’d try if failure felt less embarrassing. Each answer is a possible line on the list, and the conversation is half the fun.
Most couple bucket lists are copied from the internet and full of things neither person really wants. Building one from your own answers gives you a list that is unmistakably yours. Including small, nearby adventures matters too: a list of only big dreams sits in a drawer, while a list with a few things you can do this month actually gets crossed off.
Answer together with a notebook open. For every answer, write one item. When you’re done, pick one small item for this month and one big one to start saving or planning for.
Good for
Tips
- Write every answer down, even the silly ones.
- Aim for a mix: half nearby and doable, half big and someday.
- Put a date next to at least one item.
- Revisit the list on your anniversary and add new answers.
- Celebrate crossing things off. That’s part of the list.

Frequently asked questions
How do you make a couples bucket list?
Ask each other questions about places, skills, adventures and dreams, and write an item for every answer. Include small things you can do soon as well as big someday plans, then date one item.
What should be on a couples bucket list?
Whatever your answers point to: trips, a skill to learn together, local places you’ve never explored, a celebration you want to throw. A good list mixes small and big.
What are some small bucket list ideas for couples?
Exploring a nearby place you’ve never visited, going to an event together, introducing each other to a favorite activity, or learning something new as a pair.
