How to use them

Before you ask

Most “funny questions” lists are jokes that get one laugh and stop. The funnier thing is a real story. Ask someone about a tiny problem they overreacted to, or the word they misheard for years, and the table laughs for five minutes, then someone else says “okay, mine is worse”. That chain is what you’re after.

This page sticks to stories and confessions that are easy to share: small embarrassing moments, harmless habits, the funny friend everyone has. Nothing here asks anyone to roast someone else or reveal something they would regret. The laugh is always with the person telling it.

Start with the confessions if the group is new to each other, since a habit is easier to admit than a story. Move to the stories once people are laughing. For pure nonsense instead of stories, try random questions, or play the whole Just for fun deck.

Good for

  • Game nights and sleepovers
  • Friends who think they’ve heard every story
  • Breaking the tension after a long week
  • Team lunches that need a laugh
  • Family gatherings with cousins of every age

Tips

  1. Go first with your own story. It gives everyone permission.
  2. Ask “and then what?” A funny story usually has a second half.
  3. Laugh with the person telling it, never at them.
  4. Skip stories about someone who isn’t there to tell their side.
  5. Anyone can pass. A story told under pressure is never funny.
