Yung change na sana mapansin nila baka yun yung tahimik mong pinapractice nitong season.

How to use them

Before you ask

The first date covers the résumé: work, family, where you grew up. The second date is where it either becomes a conversation or stays a polite interview. The questions that help are story-shaped. Ask about a mistake that turned into a good story, a meal they still remember, a skill their friends rarely get to see. A story shows you how someone thinks, what makes them laugh and how they treat the people in it.

Open with a daydream question or two; they’re easy and they show taste. Then ask for stories, and let one answer lead to a follow-up instead of rushing to the next card. Bring back something from the first date: “You said you’d started learning to bake. How’s that going?” Remembering is half the charm. Keep the slightly deeper questions for later in the evening, once it feels easy.

None of these assume you’re a couple; they come from decks for anyone you’re getting to know, with Tagalog on every card. If this turns into a third date and a fourth, the Couples Edition is there for later. For now, take turns answering, and remember that anyone can pass a card.

Good for

  • Dinner or coffee on a second date
  • A walk once the first-date nerves are gone
  • Long waits for food or a table
  • Anyone tired of repeating their résumé
  • Video dates

Tips

  1. Bring back one detail from your first date; it shows you were listening.
  2. Ask for a story, not a fact: “what happened” gets more than “what do you do”.
  3. Answer the same question yourself, at about the same length.
  4. Keep heavy topics like exes and money for much later.
  5. End while it’s still fun, with something you want to ask next time.

Second date

Frequently asked questions

What do you talk about on a second date?

Go past the basics into stories and opinions: a harmless mistake that became a funny story, a meal that turned into a memory, where they’d go with a free ticket. Bring back one detail from the first date too.

What are good second date questions?

Questions that invite a story, like a time their timing was badly off, what they’re good at that friends rarely see, or what they’d try if failing felt less embarrassing. They’re easy to answer and hard to answer boringly.

How deep should a second date conversation go?

A little deeper than the first, not all the way. Hopes and small nerves are fine; exes, money and family trouble usually wait until you know each other well.

Is there an app with questions for dates?

Kumustahan is a conversation card app in English, with Tagalog on every card. The Getting to know and Just for fun decks suit early dates, and you can choose a light depth so nothing gets heavy too soon.
