A note

Some pressure becomes familiar, but familiar does not always mean light. You can notice it without needing to solve it tonight.

Puwede mo munang mapansin bago ayusin.

To get the room going

4 questions

Practical, a little proud, easy to answer.

  1. Which small adulting skill are you proud you can do now?

    Back of the card

Adulting skills can be funny and real at the same time. Paying, fixing, calling, cooking, asking: they all count.

Nakakatawa pero real ang adulting skills. Magbayad, mag-ayos, tumawag, magluto, magtanong: counted lahat yan.

  2. After finishing something hard, how do you usually celebrate or recover?

    Back of the card

Finishing something hard deserves a landing. Some people mark it loudly; some just need a quiet exhale.

  3. What comic-book hero name would fit something you are good at?

    Back of the card

What problem would your hero solve?

  4. Who is someone you respect for the way they live, even in small things?

    Back of the card

Respect often begins with small, steady things. A simple habit can show a lot about how someone moves through life.

Work, pressure and rest

5 questions

Name the weight most men carry quietly.

  1. Name one pressure you may have gotten used to carrying lately.

    Back of the card

Some pressure becomes familiar, but familiar does not always mean light. You can notice it without needing to solve it tonight.

Puwede mo munang mapansin bago ayusin.

  2. Finish this: To avoid burning out, I need to stop saying yes to...

    Back of the card

Saying no is not always lack of faith. Sometimes it helps you keep following God with honesty, peace, and enough strength.

  3. What makes it easier for you to really rest?

    Back of the card

Rest can start with small things: less pressure, a quiet place, honest prayer, or someone who lets you slow down.

  4. When pressure builds, what part of you feels like you have to handle everything alone?

Kapag tumataas ang pressure, anong part mo ang feeling kailangan mong saluhin lahat mag-isa?

    Back of the card

The proving part may have been trying to protect you. It can be thanked without letting it run the whole week.

  5. Name one habit that pulls your attention away from God.

    Back of the card

This is not about shame. It is about noticing what quietly shapes your attention and asking God for help there.

Faith that turns into action

4 questions

Courage, apologies and the right thing nobody sees.

  1. Tell us about one right thing that takes courage for you to do, even if no one notices.

Ikuwento yung isang tamang bagay na kailangan mong lakasan ng loob gawin, kahit walang makapansin.

    Back of the card

Some obedience is unseen. God is not careless with quiet courage, even when no one else notices.

  2. Share a moment when you knew you needed to say sorry.

    Back of the card

Repair can feel holy and awkward at the same time. A sincere sorry can be one way we follow Jesus in real relationships.

  3. Tell us about a time someone in your community corrected you gently.

Ikuwento yung time na may taong gentle kang ni-correct sa community mo.

    Back of the card

Gentle correction can be a form of love. It helps when truth comes with patience, humility, and care.

Puwedeng expression ng love ang gentle correction. Mas nakakatulong kapag may truth, pero may patience, humility, at care.

  4. Complete this: I need God's grace today because...

    Back of the card

Needing grace is not a failure. It is one of the most honest ways to come to God.

Honest, when the group is ready

4 questions

Only in a room where what’s said stays there.

  1. Think of one area where pride makes it hard for you to ask for help.

    Back of the card

Pride often sounds like, "I can handle this alone." Grace can lead us toward a more honest kind of strength.

Pero grace can lead us sa mas honest na kind of strength.

  2. Name one part of your life you keep trying to control instead of trusting God with it.

    Back of the card

Surrender can be a repeated conversation. God is patient with the places where we are still learning to trust Him.

  3. Think of one apology or relationship repair you have been avoiding.

    Back of the card

Avoiding repair can feel easier for a while. God can give wisdom for the timing, words, and humility it needs.

  4. Name one kind of help you are learning to accept from others.

    Back of the card

Receiving help can feel vulnerable. It can also remind us that God often cares for us through other people.

How to use them

Before you ask

Men’s groups often take months to get past small talk, and some never do. The reason usually isn’t that men don’t want to talk; it’s that “how are you really doing?” is too big to answer in front of five guys you see once a week. Smaller, more concrete questions get there faster.

Start practical: an adulting skill someone is proud of, how they celebrate or recover after finishing something hard. Then talk about pressure. Many men carry a sense that they have to handle everything alone, and a question that names it directly often gets the most honest answer of the night. The faith questions are about action: the right thing that takes courage when nobody notices, the moment someone knew he needed to apologize.

Keep the last group for a group that has built trust. Pride, control and the repair someone keeps avoiding are real topics, but only in a room where everyone knows what’s said stays there.

Good for

  • Men’s small groups at church
  • Men’s Bible studies
  • Early-morning men’s breakfasts
  • Men’s retreats
  • Accountability groups

Tips

  1. Meet over food or an activity; side-by-side talk is easier for many men than face-to-face.
  2. The leader answers first and keeps it real, not polished.
  3. One hard question per meeting is plenty.
  4. Repeat the confidentiality rule every meeting, not just the first.
  5. Follow up with a text during the week, not only at the next meeting.

Men’s group

Frequently asked questions

What questions should you ask in a men’s group?

Start with practical openers like a skill someone is proud of, then ask about pressure and rest, how faith turns into action, and, once trust is built, harder ones about pride, control and relationships that need repair.

How do you get men to open up in a small group?

Use concrete questions instead of asking how they really are, have the leader answer honestly first, meet over food or an activity, and keep it confidential.

What do you talk about at a men’s Bible study?

The passage, then what it asks of you this week: a right thing that takes courage, a habit that pulls attention from God, a weight you’ve been carrying alone. End by praying for one another.
