5 questions

Half-listening for a crash is fine. These are short.

  1. Two choices: unlimited snacks or perfect sleep for one week. Defend your pick.

Dalawa lang: unlimited snacks o perfect sleep for one week. I-defend ang pick mo.

    Back of the card

Low-stakes choices still reveal priorities. Snack joy and good sleep are both valid campaign platforms.

Kahit low-stakes, may priorities pa rin. Snack joy at good sleep, parehong valid campaign platform.

  2. Describe your favorite quiet moment at home in one sentence.

I-describe in one sentence yung favorite mong tahimik na moment sa bahay.

    Back of the card

Quiet at home can be its own kind of treat. Sometimes the best part is that nothing needs to happen.

Yung tahimik sa bahay, treat din minsan. Minsan best part na yung walang kailangang mangyari.

  3. Pick one drink that makes an ordinary day feel a little special.

    Back of the card

A drink can turn an ordinary pause into a tiny celebration. Sometimes that small upgrade is the whole point.

  4. If you were too tired to think, what would you order?

    Back of the card

The no-thinking order is its own kind of comfort. It is the choice that carries you when your brain is done.

  5. If you could remove one tiny daily inconvenience forever, what would you remove?

    Back of the card

Tiny inconveniences can be louder than they deserve. Removing one forever would feel like a quiet luxury.

Minsan ang ingay ng tiny inconveniences. Kapag natanggal forever yung isa, quiet luxury na agad.

Before you were Mom

4 questions

The hobby, the skill, the person who’s still there.

  1. If you had one free hour every week, what hobby would you go back to?

    Back of the card

A hobby you miss can point to a part of you that still wants some space.

  2. From when you were younger, what habit or interest do you still carry now?

    Back of the card

Some parts of us do not disappear; they just grow up with us. It can be nice to notice what stayed.

  3. What are you good at that your friends rarely get to see?

    Back of the card

    Back of the card

Imagine an extra afternoon opens up. Would you spend it all on this or leave some time free?

This season, honestly

5 questions

Tired is allowed here.

  1. Name one expectation of yourself that feels too heavy lately.

    Back of the card

Some expectations sound responsible but leave no room to breathe. You can ask whether they are still fair.

  2. Which kind of rest would help you most this week?

Anong klaseng pahinga ang pinaka-makakatulong sa'yo this week?

    Back of the card

Rest is not always sleep. Sometimes it is quiet, help, laughter, less noise, or permission to stop proving.

  3. Describe what you usually do when you feel emotionally or mentally full.

    Back of the card

Your first response to being full can teach you a lot. It may be asking for gentleness, space, or help.

  4. Pick one feeling you have today. What would you say to a friend who felt that too?

    Back of the card

Sometimes your gentlest wisdom shows up first for someone else. It may be allowed to come back to you too.

  5. What kind of rest, fun, or treat are you learning to enjoy without feeling bad about it?

    Back of the card

Enjoyment can take practice, especially when you are used to earning every pause. This question leaves room for that.

Faith and support

3 questions

Close by asking how the group can help this week.

  1. Think of one small thing you can do to feel closer to God again.

    Back of the card

Coming back to God can begin small. A real step matters more than a dramatic promise.

  2. Share one way your community can support you in this season.

    Back of the card

Community becomes more real when support is specific. You do not have to explain everything to ask for help.

  3. Name one thing that would make next month feel a little lighter.

    Back of the card

A lighter month does not have to mean a perfect one. Even one less weight can change how a season feels.

How to use them

Before you ask

At a moms group, the kids take over every conversation unless the questions push back. Sleep schedules and snack strategies are useful, but most moms come to remember that they’re also a person. Ask about her, not her toddler.

Open light, since everyone is half-listening for a crash from the playroom: unlimited snacks or perfect sleep for a week (watch the room choose sleep), the drink that makes an ordinary day feel special. Then ask who she was before kids: the hobby she’d go back to, the thing she’s good at that friends rarely see. Those answers are often the most fun part of the morning.

The third group is the honest one: which expectation feels too heavy lately, what she does when she’s mentally full. In a church moms group, close with a faith question and pray for each other; in any group, ask how the others can help this week, and mean it.

Good for

  • Church moms groups and mothers’ ministries
  • Playgroups and park meetups
  • New moms groups
  • Moms’ nights out
  • Online moms groups on video

Tips

  1. Ban one topic for the first ten minutes: the kids.
  2. Set up childcare or an activity so moms can actually finish a sentence.
  3. Let the newest mom pick the first question.
  4. When someone shares a hard season, bring a meal sign-up the next week.
