    Back of the card

Not every good thing needs to be useful. Some activities are good because they give the day room to breathe.

Kung biglang naging free ang hapon mo, paano mo ito gagamitin?

    Back of the card

How to use them

Before you ask

A snow day is a free day nobody planned for, and that’s what makes it special. The best snow-day questions lean into that: what you’d do with an afternoon that suddenly opened up, which activity you enjoy even when nothing gets done, what everyone wants to watch once they’re back inside.

The day has its own rhythm. Morning is pajamas and cocoa, midday is snowsuits and sleds, and by mid-afternoon everyone is back inside, damp and restless. Keep the what-if questions for that restless hour; a silly one about waking up fluent in a language or a toy as tall as you buys real peace.

Snow days are harder on grown-ups who still have to work. The last questions are for them: what can wait until tomorrow, which kind of rest you’re learning to take without feeling bad. Sometimes the answer is to close the laptop and go sledding.

Good for

  • School snow days at home
  • Winter storm weekends
  • Families stuck inside during a cold snap
  • Babysitters on a snow day
  • Cabin weekends in winter

Tips

  1. Ask the morning questions over a slow breakfast, not on the way out the door.
  2. Keep a few cards in the mudroom for when everyone comes back in.
  3. Turn one what-if answer into a craft project for the long afternoon.
  4. Let kids ask the grown-ups the cozy questions.
  5. Parents: answer the last question honestly, then follow your own answer.
